It became known when to expect IL-212

Not long ago it became known that in our country they will begin to develop a new light aircraft, which should take the baton from the “veterans” of Soviet aviation - the multi-purpose transport aircraft An-72 and An-26. This will be the Il-212, which should demonstrate increased payload capacity (up to 12 tons) and maximum range. It will also be less maintenance intensive.


And now information has emerged about when the new aircraft can be expected to be ready. It was shared by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, S. K. Shoigu. According to him, a prototype of the aircraft under development should appear in 2026. UAC is currently working on a technical project.


It is known that the Il-212 will receive a promising PD-8 turbofan engine, which is still being tested. Installation of a new power plant will entail modifications to the wing and changes to the fuel and hydraulic systems.
