A new Rostselmash plant was launched “from scratch” in Rostov-on-Don

The importance of the new enterprise is evidenced by the presence at the opening ceremony of D. Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, V. Golubev, the governor of the Rostov region and other officials. Over 13 billion rubles were invested in the project. At the same time, the launch dates (start of construction – 2020), planned for the first quarter of this year, have been met.


They started thinking about a new plant several years ago. In 2015, Rostselmash moved part of its production under the auspices of a Canadian company to “its” city. From 2016 to 2021, the number of tractors produced by the company increased from 50 to 1300 units of equipment in annual volume. It became clear that a new production site was needed - a plant equipped with the most modern equipment that would allow it to compete with Western and Chinese technology.


However, the goal of the project was not limited to purely expanding the production of agricultural machinery. The newly opened enterprise will develop new models of not only wheeled tractors with power from 170 to 620 “horses,” but also road machines, front-end and telescopic loaders. Regarding the latter, we have “the most serious intentions”: today this market is 95% imported. The plant is equipped with modern equipment, which will reduce production costs. Also, don’t forget about localization. The main objective of the project is to strengthen Russia’s sovereignty in terms of mechanical engineering and meet the increased demand for domestic equipment among Russian farmers.

About the new enterprise

In fact, this is a separate branch of Rostselmash. The new facilities are spread over an area of ​​14 hectares, and the area of ​​production premises reaches 62 thousand square meters. m. Thanks to the opening of the enterprise, 1850 new jobs will appear. At the same time, the plant requires highly qualified personnel, which suggests that their salaries will be higher than the national average.


The enterprise will carry out a full production cycle of equipment: from metal cutting to bench testing. The plant is equipped with a welding line, a painting complex, and has assembly shops. Back in 2021, Rostselmash received 4 billion rubles from the Industrial Development Fund. for the purchase of machine tools. All products produced for Russian farmers will continue to be subsidized by the state in the form of discounts provided to buyers. The total production volume of the enterprise is 5 thousand units of equipment per year. Planned deliveries of products abroad are approximately 18% of the total volume.
