“Singing” of the rear axle or gearbox is an unpleasant thing for both the driver and passengers. How to deal with ear-irritating transmission noise? Buying new units is very expensive, sending them for repairs is cheaper, but this also costs money, and a lot of it. Changing the oil does not lead to a positive result, finances are not enough - what to do? Half-forgotten technologies come to the rescue, which car enthusiasts with solid experience probably remember.
We will talk about using copper or lead shavings. First, it's worth reminding where the noise comes from. Most often it is associated with wear of transmission parts: for example, partial destruction of gears and bearings. As a result, they do not rotate smoothly, but with impacts, which we hear. You can eliminate, at least temporarily, unpleasant sounds using ordinary sawdust, which will act as a buffer between contacting surfaces. But this measure is temporary, and also dangerous: the crumbs will clog the oil channels and, as a result, the unit will have to be overhauled (or bought a new one).
But there is a way out: a master shows how to reduce noise using the example of a removed gearbox in a video from the Denis MECHANIC channel. During the experiment, we will compare the level of “extra” sounds using a special device. Is your rear axle noisy too? Watch the video - a ready-made repair “recipe” can help you too!

Soviet truck cranes did not have an impressive boom reach, but were still valued at construction sites. Of course - they made manual work tens, or even hundreds of times easier...
