The Izh motorcycle is back on the road after 40 years of inactivity - a budget way to become a biker

For many Soviet children, youth flew by unnoticed, but memory sometimes helpfully slips in pleasant memories. The boys had been dreaming about motorcycles since they were six years old. Even at this age, the luckiest parents bought a bicycle with a motor. However, two-wheeled vehicles with an internal combustion engine were more common in rural areas. And there children were raised differently than in cities. If you want a bicycle or a motorcycle, earn it yourself. They picked berries and mushrooms, worked part-time on collective farms, and finally helped their parents beyond their normal limits. In general, we’ve been riding mopeds since we were 12 years old, even on light motorcycles.


It is from these times that many remember the classics - the Izh, Jawa, Minsk, Voskhod models. “Dnepr” and “Ural” were bought by more serious people - as a rule, families and with a household. Now many men over 50 would love to go back to their youth and ride motorcycles. But finances don’t always allow you to buy a bike. We need to help our children and grandchildren... There is a way out - buy an inexpensive old Soviet motorcycle for 10-25 thousand and put it back on the road.
