Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer presented - this electric car will replace the Passat with an internal combustion engine

Volkswagen has introduced the ID.7 Tourer. This is the first production station wagon without an internal combustion engine in the manufacturer's lineup. Judging by the performance characteristics, this is an alternative to the most powerful versions of the Passat Variant.


The car turned out to be large - it is positioned as a family car. Key features include a five-seater cabin and a luggage compartment of 605 liters. If necessary, the back row can be folded to transport long items. In this case, the useful volume will increase to 1 liters.

The power reserve of the electric car is stated at around 685 km. But this is in the “top” configuration. In the basic version, the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer will receive a battery of 86 kWh rather than 77 kWh. How long such a car will travel is unknown. But a similar model in a liftback body has a range of 616 km. Most likely, the station wagon will have several kilometers less, because this car is heavier.


The manufacturer claims the ID.7 Tourer is not a successor to the Passat, but a higher-class model. In his opinion, the electric car will occupy a niche between the Passat Variant and the luxurious Arteon. All in all, a powerful all-rounder that will be offered in electric versions.

The Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer debuts only in a single-wheel drive version. Electric motor with a power of 286 hp. With. will be installed on the rear axle. Accordingly, the drive is similar.

But the possibility of an all-wheel drive modification cannot be ruled out. True, the manufacturer is still silent on this matter.

Externally, the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer looks like a typical sports station wagon. It is fast and streamlined, with stylish stampings on the bottoms of the doors. The roofline is deliberately lowered towards the rear axle, but this does not affect the “living space” for passengers. As, indeed, on the volume of the luggage compartment.


Judging by the interior, the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer is a full-fledged business class minivan, like the Audi A6 Avant. The design is made in the currently fashionable spirit of minimalism. The dashboard turned out to be defiantly narrow, but the central monitor of the multimedia system is enormous. The designers specifically highlighted it - and the eye immediately catches the 15-inch display.

The seats are equipped with ventilation, heating and massage by default. Even in basic trim levels they promise a panoramic roof with the ability to choose the degree of glass darkness.

It is still unclear how much they will ask for the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer. The manufacturer keeps prices secret. One thing is for sure - the electric car will be more expensive than the petrol Passat Variant, and for that they ask from 39 thousand euros (3,88 million rubles).
