The UAZ plant will produce its own components and security systems - the first in Russia

The press service of the Sollers company said that in 2025 the UAZ plant will begin producing its seat belts, airbags, ECUs and modern steering wheels. Funds have already been allocated for this from the Industrial Development Fund. Talking about a figure of 1,2 billion rubles. In addition, Sollers itself will allocate a significant amount.


It will be completely domestic production. New workshops and conveyor lines will be built on the territory of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. This will help minimize logistics costs.

Let us remind you that electronic control units, airbags, modern belts and steering wheels for passenger cars are not yet produced in Russia. Everyone is forced to buy them abroad.


After the introduction of economic sanctions against our country, this negatively affected production volumes. If the Ulyanovsk plant somehow managed to cope, then the situation at AvtoVAZ was critical. Production stopped. It took time to find new suppliers, which meant huge financial losses. And even now cars are produced periodically intermittently.

Therefore, Sollers PJSC sees broad prospects for new production. It will provide the necessary components not only to the Ulyanovsk plant, but also to other Russian automakers. First of all, Security System Components LLC, which will be engaged in the production of components and parts, is aimed at cooperation with AvtoVAZ.

Domestic parts should become cheaper than Chinese ones. After all, their price will not include extra transportation costs. And if the price is at the same level, this means that higher quality materials will be used for Russian units. Accordingly, durability will be much higher.


Funds received from the Industrial Development Fund will be used primarily for the purchase of new equipment. You will also have to purchase test benches. The latter hints that Sollers' approach is serious.

They promise to launch mass production in 2025. It should provide scarce imported components and security systems primarily to the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant and all Sollers subsidiaries. And then everyone who wants to cooperate.

At the first stage, it is planned to invest in production not only 1,2 billion received from the Industrial Development Fund, but also our own 300 million rubles. They promise to create at least 200 new jobs.
