The companies are ready to enter into contracts for the supply of Russian MS-21 and Tu-214 airliners. But they didn’t need them before, so production has to be revived. Companies are unable to cope with the influx of suddenly appearing customers.
The new press is impressive in size. Its height is 4,7 meters and its weight is 650 tons. The equipment is capable of creating a pressure of 40 megapascals, so that all large-sized parts for fuselages can be immediately put into production.
The machine received the index P5220. It was created by order from the United Aircraft Company (UAC). They need to increase production volumes of domestic MS-21 and Tu-214 airliners as quickly as possible.
And now they have this opportunity. The press has already been tested - it is capable of stamping a wide range of long fuselage parts and not only them. If necessary, P5220 can be used for the manufacture, for example, of fuel tanks and various aircraft panels.
The press is a 100% Russian development. This means that it was possible to produce it without the use of foreign components. In the future, this will help organize the production of similar equipment, adapted not only for parts of the MS-21 and Tu-214 fuselages, but also for other models.
