The BMW company produces motorcycles. And even though Russian car owners hardly know about them, it won’t make the brand any worse. If you look into history, you can find out that bikes once prevailed over other equipment at BMW. And even after 1945, they helped to stay afloat. A “correct” BMW motorcycle should be equipped with a boxer engine. And even though it has long been outdated, it is already a symbol of the brand. But there are other motors in the manufacturer’s range. From time to time, BMW releases modern power units to boost sales. Of course, not opposed ones, but the result is often impressive.
In 1982, the BMW K100 appeared. The motorcycle had little in common with the traditional bikes of the German brand, but its engine was similar to car engines. Because of the power unit, the BMW K100 was called the “Flying Brick”. By the way, the motorcycle turned out to be narrow. Nothing surprising - the engine is not opposed, but in-line. So, in city traffic jams, it is capable of “leaking through” no worse than a small-capacity scooter. Cafe racers are also often made on the BMW K100 chassis. Whether it is worth spoiling the original model, or whether this will, on the contrary, improve it, is a moot point. You can see what a custom build looks like on a German classic chassis in the video on the channel “#WONDERFUL TECHNOLOGIES with Georgy Belov.” And you can decide for yourself whether the BMW K100 was spoiled or improved.
