The Gorky plant was once famous for its passenger cars. “Volga” in the USSR was a dream, achievable, but difficult. To buy GAZ, you had to become an important citizen for the Soviet Union. A scientist, a boss, an outstanding cultural figure. They also played cars in a lottery. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Volgas went on sale. Initially they were sold out. Firstly, people have finally gotten their hands on cars that were once inaccessible. Secondly, money depreciated before our eyes, so they took different values. The Gorky plant worked in three shifts, churning out GAZ-24-10. As soon as demand began to decline, and it happened quickly, several new models were released. The latest Volgas were even equipped with Chrysler engines. Then the manufacturer mastered the production of Volga Siber. This car had nothing in common with the famous family of Gorky cars.
It was also planned to master off-road vehicles. And the project, which will be discussed on the Techno-Hunter channel, did not appear out of nowhere. At first there were “Atamans” in different variations, but these were more “hard workers”. But the GAZ-3106 is already a modern SUV, which was supposed to become a competitor to the UAZ Patriot. A prototype was shown in 2003. The car made a splash, but did not go into mass production.
