Russian aircraft engine PD-14 – foreign analogues are no longer needed
Russian aviation has been developing according to its own pattern for a long time. There was enough money in the industry, so having finished testing Soviet aircraft, they decided to purchase foreign models, like Boeing and Airbus. Moreover, domestic manufacturers seriously failed in the early 90s. The designers in the industry remained good; they sought to develop new models, but there were no interested people. These are billions of dollars in investments, and in dollar terms. It’s easier to buy ready-made and tested models abroad. The state tried to save the situation by funding domestic developers. Promising aircraft of different classes appeared, as did the engines for them. But most of them remained experienced - there were no pre-orders.

In 2022, the realization came that not everything can be solved with money. Foreign partners were forced to support their politicians who imposed economic sanctions against Russia. Airlines suddenly remembered that we have our own planes. Now they are ready to make an advance payment, but the situation cannot be corrected instantly. We have a promising airliner model - MS-21. But there are no engines yet. Although, the PD-14 already went into production in April last year. Over the next seven years, it is planned to increase production to 160 engines per year. Only with them can we increase the production of MC-21-310 airliners. And they will tell you more about the PD-14 engine on the SkyShips channel.
