One of the most iconic and at the same time secret factories in the USSR was MZKT. They made chassis for powerful military equipment there. But after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the company found itself in a difficult economic situation. I had to somehow get out of it - focus on the civilian market. Fortunately, the state did not abandon large producers and supported them. As a result, the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant is not only alive, but has also mastered several new directions. For example, in collaboration with MAZ, it produces the Volat line. It is suitable for the installation of heavy specialized equipment. And all-wheel drive and four axles help to work even in the most difficult conditions - where there have never been roads. That’s why cars from MZKT are so popular in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union.
The Minsk Plant produces wheeled tractors and middle-class buses. They are used on commuter routes. Of course, this production could not have happened without the ubiquitous Chinese with their components, assemblies and parts. But the chassis is 100% Belarusian.
