But alas, they refused to finance them.
A new milestone in the development of the enterprise came in the mid-80s, when Moskvich-2141 appeared. This front-wheel drive model is in many ways better than the VAZ-2109. Moreover, it was planned to be of a higher class. But alas, the lack of a new engine turned the project into a mediocre one. However, the car “went in” and was bought until the end of the Soviet era. And then foreign cars poured into the country, cutting off the domestic auto industry in the bud. The plant, by that time renamed Moskvich, tried to fight. We decided to create business class cars, starting with “Prince Vladimir”. And then on its chassis they created the Ivan Kalita - the most luxurious production model in the entire history of the enterprise.
