A subsidiary of KamAZ, JSC Kama, is responsible for the development of the new electric car. It is worth noting that it is planned to release a car that has nothing to do with past projects of the company.
Early ideas
The development of the first electric car "Kama-1" was accompanied by a serious hype in the Russian media. The car has already been called the ideological successor of the Oka, although apart from its small dimensions, they had practically nothing in common. Initially, it was positioned as an ultra-affordable hatchback with an electric motor - the final price for buyers should be less than a million rubles, including state subsidies. Sales are scheduled for 2021.
It is now clear that these promises have not come true. To quote factory management, this electric car will be "later and more expensive." The first copies of Kama-1 have already been tested by autobloggers and received mixed ratings. It remains to be hoped that the creators of the machine will listen to the opinions and correct all the shortcomings. There is still time: mass production has been postponed to 2024 or 2025.

Even less is known about the Kama-2 project. All we have learned is that it will be a front-wheel drive car that is larger than the first model. It is reported that an unnamed company from Italy worked on the design.

The new electric vehicle is being developed by a team of approximately 300 people who have previously worked on projects for customers in the US and Europe. Dimensions refer the future car to the B-class: 3750 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2515.
The most interesting "feature" of the future car is a projection display integrated into the urban environment. It is conceived that he will be able to suggest the desired route, display information about traffic jams and accidents, and so on. According to unconfirmed reports, the car will be equipped with a 95 hp electric motor. with., and the power reserve will be 500 km.

Several layouts are expected: "Duo" with two doors, "Family" with four, as well as special editions for taxi drivers and deliveries. The latter will take precedence. If Atom reaches serial production, it will have to compete with Moskvich, which is striving to occupy the niche of commercial services.
