Eight-cylinder ZMZ engines will be assembled again in 2023
Representatives of Sollers announced plans to resume production of V8 engines in the coming months. The engine plant from Zavolzhsk, now part of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, assembled them until 2021, after which production was discontinued.

As the representative of the press service of Sollers explained, due to the current situation, there was a need for eight-cylinder engines ZMZ 523 and 524. Moreover, they are needed both for new equipment and for used vehicles, in which the engine has expired. Demand is predicted to be stable for several years, production volumes will be adjusted depending on the number of orders.

Today, all the assembly facilities involved in the chain are being prepared, employees are being hired and the necessary materials are being purchased. Both a gasoline version and a unit adapted for propane-butane, which is especially in demand in commercial vehicles, will be produced. This option may be returned to some models of buses and light trucks. Information on improvements and changes has not been received, most likely the design will remain the same as when production ended in 2021.
