In 1990, Renault's new flagship surprised the world as it turned out to be unlike any other model. Magnum is a truck about which everyone has their own opinion: they either love it or hate it - there is no third way. The AE is the first tractor with a flat floor and an internal height of 1.87 m, which allows you to stand upright. The cab was equipped with a four-point air suspension with a self-levelling function that gave the driver unearthly comfort.
According to legend, the smoothness of the Magnum was superior to that of the Mercedes-Benz S600 in the back of the W140! As power plants, Renault offered MIDR engines with a capacity of 385 and 415 horses. The flagship 530-horsepower AE520 was equipped with a V8 engine from the American company Mack. After the debut, the European press unanimously recognized the Renault AE as "Truck of the Year", and in 1997 the model was renamed Magnum. Previously, this was the trim level.
Just such a copy was purchased by the author of the Custom Truck YouTube channel. Of course, the truck is in a sad state, and an impressive amount of restoration work is to be carried out on it: on the electrics, pneumatic system, engine, transmission ... You can find out how the truck was driven to the base, and about the future plans of the blogger for the resuscitation of Magnum, you can find out by watching the video.
