It's no secret that the Soviet automotive industry produced all-wheel drive trucks with a wheel formula: 4x4, 6x6 and even 8x8. But to the author of the Custom Truck Youtube channel from Belarus, this seemed not enough, and he decided to build a 10x10 all-terrain vehicle based on the 131st ZIL! Moreover, the blogger’s car is not anyhow, but equipped with a “Ural” power unit, as you know, developing not 150, but 180 horsepower!
And here a technically savvy reader will surely remember that such a modification was produced during Soviet times at the Bryansk Automobile Plant! The truck was called ZIL-137, and was equipped with an "active" trailer, for the drive of which a hydraulic motor served, with a high pressure pump (up to 150 atmospheres). The machine was intended for the transportation of anti-aircraft missiles, as well as for the installation of a mobile bakery that produced 2.5 tons of bread per day.
But the author of the Custom Truck channel decided to go the other way, and roll another truck under the standard ZIL-131 chassis! To do this, it was necessary to remove the body and cab, disassemble the frame, dismantle the transmission and roll out the axles. You can find out how this difficult operation went, and how serious alterations await the Soviet truck ahead by watching the video.
