Kia unveils Concept EV9 electric car in Los Angeles

Kia is unveiling the Concept EV9 electric SUV at the Los Angeles show. The audience will see a concept car, which in the near future will be the brand's flagship in the class of seven-seater off-road vehicles. In addition to this model, 2027 more electric vehicles will appear in the new line until 6, which once again confirms the manufacturer’s serious intentions to transfer the entire fleet exclusively to electric traction.




From the impressive dimensions of the new SUV, it can be assumed that it will be supplied exclusively for the US and Middle East markets, where there are such wide roads to accommodate the novelty. Even from the first images, it was clear that the car was larger even compared to the Kia Sorento. Now the exact technical characteristics and dimensions of the car have become known: 4930 mm long, 2055 mm wide, 1790 mm high. Wheelbase - 3100 mm.

In technical terms, the Concept EV9 is a logical continuation of its "brother" Seven. It also claims a range of 483 km and fast battery charging in just 20 minutes. Information about the capacity of the traction battery has not yet been disclosed, but according to unofficial data, it is 100 kWh. As for the transmission, it is presented in a twin-engine version - two engines transmit torque to both axles and produce a total power of 577 hp.

The body shape of the SUV is very angular, so aerodynamics are not as good as some competitors, such as Jeep. The only thing that the engineers could do was to install folding roof rails, which, albeit a little, but reduce aerodynamic drag.



An interesting feature of the car is the display installed instead of the front grille. The driver will be able to display various kinds of information on it, and it also acts as headlights and turn signals. No less interesting is the salon, namely, three options for organizing the internal space. For example, the Active setting ensures maximum driving comfort. The remaining two options - Pause Mode and Enjoy Mode can only be activated during the parking process. In the second mode, the second-row seats fold to the floor, and in the latter, all seats turn 180 degrees. Both of these options expand the available space in the cabin.

The exact timing of the appearance of the KIA EV9 is not announced, and the cost of the car is unknown. One can only guess about all this, but one thing is clear - the company will not stop there.
