Recall that JSC "Kama" is a company under the financial patronage of KAMAZ, hence the name. This legal entity was created specifically for the development of domestic electric cars, mainly for urban use.
The Kama project, as they want to call the car, was launched in November 2021. To simplify its task, KAMAZ ordered the development of Italian designers from Torino Design.

By February of this year, Kama JSC received drawings of the future electric car. The Italians designed the body, chassis and even the engine. Unfortunately, after the introduction of economic sanctions against the Russian Federation, the leadership of Torino Design refused further cooperation.
Now the engineers of Kama JSC are analyzing the technical documentation of the electric car for compliance with the performance characteristics. The vehicle must be compact, with a body length of 3 mm and a wheelbase of 750 mm.
The electric train is planned to be front-wheel drive and five-door, despite its modest dimensions. The first tests of cars are going to be carried out in 2023.
The new executive director of Kama JSC set a task for his employees to find a new partner in the development and assembly of experimental modifications of electric cars as soon as possible. There is information that the manufacturer tried to establish cooperation with AvtoVAZ, but nothing came of it.
Most likely, one of the Chinese firms will become a new partner, which will not only bring Kama to mind, but also assemble a batch of experienced electric cars for testing. In addition to finalizing the project, the Chinese will have to make equipment for setting up mass production of cars in Russia.
The deadlines have been set to the minimum - the electric car so far exists only in the form of drawings, and the appearance and technical characteristics have not even been approved. Going from development to serial production in 3,5 years is an ambitious goal.

It is not yet clear where exactly the assembly of Russian electric cars will be arranged. It is possible that they will be produced at the Moskvich plant in Moscow, which is now idle.
There is also information for critics who may begin to accuse KAMAZ and their controlled company Kama JSC of another "split" of public funds. The manufacturer did not apply to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for a special investment contract. This hints that he does not want to use state financial assistance, taking on a number of obligations.
It seems that Kama JSC plans to assemble its electric cars on Chinese components and assemblies. This is precisely what can explain such a short time allotted for the launch of mass production of new cars.
