GAZ-3102 - the last car of small Soviet officials
In the late 60s and early 70s, Soviet society finally took a deep breath. The post-war devastation in the country was overcome, and the well-being of the people reached a level that was noticeably higher than the poverty of the past two decades. Therefore, some could already afford personal vehicles, and officials, even of low rank, wanted to have their own "member carrier". Therefore, in the hierarchy of official vehicles, in addition to ZIL and Chaika, the Volga GAZ-3102 appeared. This happened in 1982, when the production of the old "Seagull" GAZ-13 was completely discontinued. They decided to transfer the echelon of middle-class Soviet officials to just such a transport.

On the one hand, officially it was a new GAZ model for general use. On the other hand, a mere mortal would never be able to buy it on a free sale. After all, it was unsuitable for the secretary of some city party committee to drive around in the same car as the nosy taxi drivers. "Thirty-first" in this case was very helpful. True, she did not have long to serve her masters faithfully. A few years later, the spirit of Gorbachev's democratization of society was breathed in. The concept of "transport for party workers" was gradually taken out of use, and the new "Volga" fell into the hands of ordinary Soviet people who had the money to purchase them. What this model was like is described in the video from the Ivan Zenkevich PRO Cars channel.
