In Soviet times, the names "Rocket" and "Meteor" were very popular. Often so called amateur hockey teams. But today we will not talk about them. And about amazing boats equipped with hydrofoils. Say miracles? Yes, that's exactly what millions of Soviet people thought. Therefore, there was never a end to those who wanted to ride on such a miracle technique. After all, the emotions received from such a trip cannot be compared with what a person feels when traveling by bus or car. Yes, and ordinary boats did not go with them in any comparison.
Unusual technique traces its history back to August 25, 1957. It was then that the first hydrofoil boat "Rocket-1" set off. The experimental trip lasted from Gorky to Kazan for a distance of 420 km. The boat, with 30 passengers on board, was able to overcome it in just 7 hours. Their popularity can be judged by the fact that more than 3000 of these unusual water vehicles were built in total. In addition to our country, then a former Soviet republic, boats of this design became widespread in Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia. Their first serial production was established at the Feodosia shipyard. Why is such a promising mode of transport suddenly turned out to be unclaimed? They tried to answer this question in a video from the Pribambas TV channel.
