Electric car Lightyear 0 can work without recharging up to seven months

Lightyear recently unveiled its startup, an electric car with integrated solar panels. Recently, the manufacturer shared some interesting details about his project. It turns out that the car needs to be recharged every seven months if it is operated in countries with a sunny climate.


Even in Holland, where Lightyear's office is based, the model demonstrates the wonders of autonomy. Despite the lack of sun, the Lightyear 0 only needs to be charged once every two months. It turns out that in central Russia, autonomy will be enough for about the same period.

The Lightyear 0 model is a prototype, and the project itself is a startup. Work on this electric car has been going on for six years. Only now the first sample is completely ready and has waited for an investor who will invest in mass production.



The car is really promising. Thanks to solar panels, it will solve the main problem of electric cars - the limited range. With the Lightyear 0, you can take on the longest journeys without worrying about running out of batteries.

Externally, the model is made in the spirit of a sports hatchback. The body received an aerodynamic design, hinting at the high power of electric motors. There will be four motors - one in each wheel.

The novelty weighs only about 1,5 tons and this is a curb weight with running batteries. The length is just over five meters.

Thanks to the work of designers, five m2 of solar panels were placed on the surface of the body panels of the electric car. During the day, they are charged, adding to the power reserve up to 70 km.

Claimed 7 months without recharging is the average time when using a car in urban conditions. It assumes a daily run of about 35 km. To charge the batteries as efficiently as possible, you just need to leave the car in the open air, preferably not in the shade.

Salon Lightyear 0 is made in the spirit of the times. It is equipped with large screens with a touchscreen. The decoration used natural materials - suede and rattan.



The cost of an electric car with solar panels integrated into the body is already known. It is planned to offer it to customers from 250 euros. The volumes are still small - the manufacturer called the figure of 000 cars a year.

Assembly of Lightyear 0 will begin in the fall. The manufacturer promises that the first customers will receive electric cars in November.

By the way, if the startup turns out to be successful, Lightyear is going to start producing a budget car with solar panels. Its cost will be from 30 euros.
