GMC Yukon instead of UAZ Patriot

Imagine that you have a need to purchase a frame SUV with a spacious interior, an automatic gearbox and the ability to tow a heavy trailer. The answer is obvious - buy a UAZ Patriot with a Punch Powerglide 6L50 gearbox and enjoy life! But the price list for new UAZs is by no means humane (from 1,9 million rubles), and the ZMZ Pro engine, which develops 150 horses, is rather weak for such a carcass. And what if, how to look for an alternative in the secondary market? This is what Sergey Kanunnikov, the author of the YouTube channel "Behind the Wheel", took for a test the American SUV GMC Yukon, a clone of the first generation Chevrolet Tahoe (GMT400). 




Under the hood of a mighty black "jeep" is a V8 engine with a working volume of 5.7 liters, which develops, according to the author: "from 200 to 255 horsepower, depending on the measurement standard," and has a huge resource, reaching up to 300 thousand kilometers. As advantages over UAZ, Sergey calls the resource of units, soft and comfortable suspension and confident dynamics. As well as a complete set that is in no way inferior to modern models of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.  



What about disadvantages? Among them, Sergey Kanunnikov named the cost of original spare parts:

✅ Block of nozzles (spider) - 100 thousand rubles
✅ The waiting period for spare parts is up to six months!

Therefore, Sergei concludes, as an alternative to UAZ, this GMC Yukon is not suitable for everyday use. But as a retro weekend car - quite!
