Maserati MC20 Cielo - new with retractable glass roof

The developers introduced a new convertible, but instead of the "Spyder" index used for such modifications, it was called "Cielo". Translated from Italian, this means "sky", because through a rigid glass roof you can see everything that is above your head.

The novelty from Maserati is distinguished by its strength and low weight, as the body is a carbon fiber monocoque. It was originally designed for a car without a top, so no additional reinforcement was needed.



The glass on the roof is electrochromic, it can be dimmed to the desired degree at any time, which eliminates the discomfort from the bright sun. Due to the rigid structure, it provides sound insulation at the level of a coupe. An important advantage is the speed of the mechanism. It takes 12 seconds to turn a roadster into a convertible. To do this, you need to press one button on the multimedia touchscreen in the middle.



The monocoque is also designed to install a rechargeable battery, which will be used in the electric version. There is no exact information on this option yet, its tentative name is MC20 Folgore.

Technical specifications

The engine, as in all Maserati supercars, is located behind the passengers. The Cielo uses a 3-litre, twin-turbocharged, six-cylinder V-engine. The motor produces 628 hp. With. and accelerates the car to 100 km / h in less than 3 seconds. The maximum speed exceeds 300 km/h.



The model is rear-wheel drive, with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission used as a transmission. It is characterized by fast and soft shifting, which ensures comfort even with strong accelerations.

The novelty has received a number of additions that increase safety and reduce the risk of accidents. All-round cameras, a traffic sign recognition system and automatic emergency braking when obstacles are detected are standard in the car.

The Maserati MC20 features a 12-speaker Sonus Faber audio system, adapted to this model, which ensures perfect acoustics in the cabin.



The developers announced the release of a special series PrimaSerie Launch Edition. 60 copies will be assembled, equipped with unique design elements. They will be painted in a special color, the original casting and a number of other additions are also provided.
