Toyota celebrates 4Runner anniversary with nostalgic special edition

The Japanese manufacturer hit the nostalgia to celebrate 40 years since the release of the first generation 4Runner. The anniversary date is coming up next year.


Over the past four decades, several generations of this crossover have sold around the world with a circulation exceeding 4 million units of equipment. The anniversary model was named ornately - 4Runner 40th Anniversary Special Edition. It is supposed to release exactly 4040 pieces. This version contains touches from the 80s that are present in the exterior and interior of the car.



The novelty is based on the SR5 Premium version (unlike it, the all-wheel drive version is used), made in three shades: white, as well as red and black metallic, which are the brand colors of the Japanese automaker. Among other features of the model stand out 17-inch rims made in bronze, tri-color stripes on the sides of the body, continuing to the C-pillars. They symbolize respect for the riders who used this brand in rally competitions. Inside, on the central panel, there is an emblem indicating that the car belongs to a limited series. Armchairs are decorated with bronze trim. Branded, also tricolor nameplates are visible on the consoles. Logos are also embroidered on the headrests.



In the basic version of 4Runner, the manufacturer has added an upgraded electronic assistant that monitors "blind spots". Now, when the car is moving in reverse, it “calculates” the perpendicular movement. All complete sets of the model received LEDs “in a circle”. As for the power plant, only one version of the SUV with a four-liter six-cylinder 1GR-FE engine is sold in the New World. Its power reaches 270 "horses", the engine is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.



The company did not inform motorists about the price of the exclusive car and the start of sales. However, most fans are sure that the cost will not differ much from that at which standard models are sold. To date, 4Runner, released this year, in the minimum configuration Trail is priced at 37,815 thousand "green". The premium version of the SR5 crossover costs from 41,515 in the same currency. Experts believe that it is obvious that the price will be in the region of 45 thousand dollars - the same is about the cost of the top TRD. The machine is designed exclusively for the US market and is unlikely to get to other countries.
