Lamborghini has sold the last V-12 petrol supercars - there won't be any more!
Lamborghini has made a big statement - there will be no more traditional atmospheric V12! Official representatives of the Italian manufacturer announced the end of production of their most powerful gasoline engine.

At first glance, everything is obvious - the crisis associated with the pandemic knocked down many companies, factories were closed around the world. Auto manufacturers have suffered losses due to quarantine and restrictions.

How can such an exotic company as Lamborghini stay here? But in fact, the business of the Italians, under the wing of Audi, is doing very well. Over 2019-2020, sales of supercars have grown. This is especially noticeable in 2021 - the company sold 23% more cars in 9 months than in the same period in 2020. The Lamborghini Urus crossover became the best-selling car.

As for supercars with V12 engines, they are sold out a year in advance on a prepaid basis. So there can be no question of any crisis in Lamborghini.

The most popular cars in 2021 are:

  • ? Urus
  • ? Huracan
  • ? Aventador

But progress does not stand still, and worldwide electrification has affected all automakers. Even those who initially did not believe in this are forced to admit that the future belongs to such models. Lamborghini is also going to be rebuilt, and will start hybridization of their engines, and then the transition to electric motors.

Stefan Winkelmann, chief executive officer of Automobili Lamborghini, said that in 2024 the entire range of cars will be hybridized. In addition, fully electric cars will appear.

What will happen to the V12 engine has not yet been reported. But fans of the brand should not worry, the manufacturer is unlikely to abandon the legendary motor.

The history of Lamborghini began with the V12. Hybridization within sports cars is usually done not for the sake of economy, but to increase power. So in the future, we can hope for the emergence of V12 of a new design.

The first steps in this direction have already been taken, suffice it to recall the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 with its naturally aspirated V12, paired with an electric motor weighing 34 kg.

In any case, the Italian company promised not to make traditional gasoline V12 anymore. Lamborghini cars were already rare, now they will also become collectible.

As for the all-electric Lambo, we will wait for its appearance to evaluate whether it will turn out better or worse than the gasoline versions.
