China unveils Leapmotor C01 electric car with 717 km range and autopilot

A still little-known Chinese company has demonstrated to the general public its new Leapmotor C01 electric car. It is worth noting that this manufacturer began its activities in 2015 and has already managed to develop and put on sale four car models. In the past 2021, the company sold over 9 thousand machines of its own design in the domestic market.


The fastback shown (a sedan with a rounded sloping rear end) is an all-electric car, the engine (maybe several of them, this is not known) which develops 500 “horses”. Having given a start from a place, the car gets to “hundreds” in three seconds. The power unit is powered by a 90 kWh battery and provides a range of up to a maximum of 717 km (lower cost versions are offered with a battery that makes it possible to travel 630, 606 or 500 km on a single charge). But these are the results obtained in accordance with the Chinese CLTC regulations. The battery is built into the floor of the car. The length of the car is 5,05 m, the width is 1,902 m and the base is 2,93 m. The diameter of the wheels in the basic version is 19 inches.



As for the exterior, it is closer to the European version than the Asian one. Of the unusual, it is worth highlighting the rear window, which “stops” on the roof. The body has a small drag coefficient of 0,226. To some extent, this is facilitated by retractable door handles.



In terms of equipment, it is known that the electric car is equipped with a multimedia system based on the Snapdragon 8155 chip. The dashboard is completely digital, there is a built-in face recognition system. More than two dozen electronic assistants and 28 sensors are combined in the Leapmotor Pilot 3.0 package. As the pinnacle of electronic "bells and whistles" - autopilot. On the front panel there are three displays at once, identical to those of the C11 SUV. But, unlike him, the design of the seats, like the doors, is different. To open the latter, special buttons are used that control electric locks. For emergencies, "classic" mechanical handles are provided. In the back row, the seat cushions move back and forth, and the backrests tilt towards the "stern": then through the rear window you can admire the sky.



As is clear from the message about the novelty, several of its configurations are provided. The main one will be sold in China at a price of 26,77 thousand dollars, the most expensive version will cost 39,75 thousand "green".
