What cars can be produced under the Moskvich brand

Literally yesterday, the Renault plant moved into the category of Moscow city property. The mayor said that it is planned to revive the Moskvich brand and assemble passenger cars under this brand.


Today, new details have emerged about what models Russian drivers should expect. Specialists and experts believe that the enterprise will first produce what can be done under the conditions of economic sanctions against the Russian Federation.

The first option is cars similar to the simplest models from AvtoVAZ. This is LADA Niva Legend in the first place, and then "Grant" and "Vesta". The machines will be equipped with simple engines with a displacement of 1,6 liters.



AvtoVAZ can only offer mechanical gearboxes so far. Plus, cars will be sold in the simplest trim levels.
The second option is more promising. If it is possible to agree with a supplier of electronics and necessary components, analogues of the Renault Duster / Kaptur / Arkana crossovers may appear under the Moskvich brand.

It is still unclear how this moment will be settled with the French manufacturer, but it can already be stated with confidence that the Russian side does not intend to goof off. If you want - work, if not - do not interfere with others!

Moskvich crossovers, if they appear, are also likely to be produced with simple engines and manual transmissions. Then the production of Renault Kaptur / Arkan is in question, or they will be assembled in small batches - as components are available.

It is possible that it will be possible to negotiate with Renault and start production of the new Renault Sandero and Logan, but under the Moskvich brand. In case the French do not agree, the cars will have to be slightly changed outwardly.

The third option looks more promising. There is an option that with the help of KAMAZ it will be possible to launch mass production of electric cars. An enterprise producing trucks has such an opportunity. A couple of years ago, KAMAZ showed the Kama-1 concept.



At the same time, experts assure that no serial model created on the platform of this prototype under the Moskvich brand will be produced. This is a small car, and Russia needs full-size cars. Electric cars will be made from scratch, using the developments of KAMAZ.

There is an option with a SKD assembly of Chinese or Iranian-made cars. Although, for now, brands from the Middle Kingdom, on the contrary, are trying to import new models to Russia, and not to make them on the spot.

Some drivers dream that the original Muscovites, which were produced back in the USSR, will return to Russian roads. But this will definitely not happen - the equipment has long been scrapped.
