In the 30s of the twentieth century in the big cities of the USSR there was an urgent need for buses. One of the directions is small capacity options for lightly loaded routes. GAZ engineers took up the development of such a model in 1932. The legendary "one and a half" was taken as the basis, and in 1933 the first copies had already left the assembly line. It was a compact transport designed for 17 passengers with a high cabin, allowing people of average height to move while standing.
The unification with trucks helped to easily increase production volumes year after year. There were many such buses on the streets of the then cities, but only a few copies have survived to this day. This is largely due to the fact that the frame was made of birch, and the wood rotted over time, and the equipment was simply written off as scrap.
The Automobilnaya Rossiya YouTube channel talks in detail about this model. The author of the channel came across a copy in good condition, so you can see what the bus looked like at that time. You will find out what technical solutions were used by Soviet engineers and what stages of modernization the model went through during its production.
