Ford Bronco DR desert racing goes on sale by the end of 2022

Ford Performance Motorsports has unveiled a special modification of the Ford Bronco DR for desert racing. The SUV will be assembled in small series, with the first batch to go on sale by the end of 2022 cars.


Ford Bronco is a legendary "rogue" that debuted in 1965 and was produced until 1996. During this time, five generations have changed, but in the end, Ford abandoned production due to catastrophically low demand.

But in 2020, the revival of the Bronco was announced, at the same time a prototype was shown. In 2021, the Ford Bronco is already freely available from authorized dealers.

And recently, a prototype of a special modification of the DR for desert racing was shown. Mark Rushbrook, director of Ford Performance Motorsports, stated that this is a fully prepared off-road vehicle for competition. The cars will be produced in small batches, and each of them is ready to participate in the rally from the assembly line.



The production Ford Bronco with four doors was taken as the basis for the creation of the DR. The body is completely redesigned, it has become a two-door. Forget about steel panels, the body of an off-road racing car should be as light as possible. For this reason, the parts are made of high-strength fiberglass.

Since the Ford Bronco DR is a true racing car, the comfort level is spartan. Everything superfluous is removed, reducing weight is the main task!

Under the hood of the SUV is a powerful naturally aspirated Ford Coyote V8 engine with a displacement of 5,0 liters. The motor develops from 421 to 460 hp. With. depending on modification.

The transmission is automatic, models 10R80. The razdatka is taken from an F-150 pickup truck with an electric shifter.
The suspension on the Ford Bronco DR is huge with 15,8 inches front and 17,4 inches rear. The angle of entry and exit is 47 and 37 degrees, respectively.
For safety reasons, the body of the SUV received a frame made of ACCRA pipes.

The limited Bronco is made in collaboration with Multimatic. This company is known throughout the world for the preparation of serial off-road vehicles for rallies and racing.



Small-scale Ford Bronco DRs will be considered 2023 models. The first batch of 50 vehicles will go on sale at the end of 2022.
Pre-order is available now, the cost of the SUV is 200 US dollars. This is the minimum price, you will have to pay extra for additional options.
