Trucks Nikola Tre FCEV can become the main competitors of Tesla Semi

American company Nikola is testing its hydrogen trucks on the roads of California. Cars were handed over to the logistics company Biagi Bros for testing as close to reality as possible.


If the Tre FCEV trucks prove efficient and economical in testing, it could mean Nikola has overtaken Tesla in the heavy-duty segment. Transport.

Following a long-standing tradition, the manufacturer does not disclose any details about its vehicles. They say that the test will demonstrate everything. Nikola Tre FCEV trucks are already driving along Californian roads. They have managed to travel more than 500 km without a single breakdown. According to representatives of the company, the trucks are now getting to the customer - the logistics company Biagi Bros on their own. There they have to get in line and engage in real cargo transportation.

Nikola said that after testing, the logistics company is going to purchase test Tre FCEVs. Of course, provided that they are reliable and profitable in operation. The manufacturer assures that customers will be as strict as possible in their assessments.

Some US drivers have already spotted and photographed Nikola Tre FCEV trucks. Judging by the stickers and logos, the manufacturer and logistics company are not going to hide the ongoing tests.

Most likely, Biagi Bros will lay routes for Nikola Tre FCEV where hydrogen stations meet. It is quite possible that compact gas stations will also be located in their logistics distribution centers, of which the carrier has about 30 in the United States.

It is for hydrogen trucks that the future of heavy commercial vehicles is seen. In a nutshell, these are the same electric cars, only they do not need to be charged from a power outlet. Energy is generated by the chemical reaction of hydrogen with oxygen in the car's battery.

The main advantage of such cars is less weight. Although there is not much to compare the Nikola Tre FCEV with anyone yet, the Tesla Semi's main competitor is an electric truck of a traditional design. To increase the power and weight of the transported goods, it was necessary to equip the machine with a large number of battery packs.



As a result, Tesla Semi turned out to be heavy on its own, which negatively affected its carrying capacity.

This is what guided the logistics company Biagi Bros when choosing the Nikola Tre FCEV hydrogen prototypes.

The manufacturer promised to share the technical characteristics of his car later, when they are tested and ready for serial launch.
