Pre-production model Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid – the developers officially showed the first photos

Yamaha Motor Company has released photos of pre-production motorcycle Tenere 700 Raid models. The technical characteristics of the new product have not yet been disclosed, but it is already clear from its appearance that the bike has undergone a deep modernization.


Yamaha Tenere is a legendary enduro motorcycle. The model has been in serial production since 1983. It is still popular among riders who love to ride not on the roads, but in the directions.

The prototype of the new Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid was shown back in November 2021. But then many understood that the motorcycle was hardly destined to become a serial motorcycle in this form.



In the "fresh" photos, the sample of the updated enduro really differs from both the old version and the prototype.
It can be seen that they tried to make the model as adapted to off-road as possible - in order to beat most of the competitors in the class.

Yamaha Tenere did not become a KTM after this, but in a Japanese motorcycle the philosophy is different - it must be not only passable, but also comfortable.
Compared to the design of the 2019 model, the bike has changed. This can be seen from the new tank with two necks, plastic lining and optics.

Suspensions have become more powerful, the exhaust system has been improved. And the very appearance of the Yamaha Tenere 700 Raid is more fit and sporty.
The seat height is increased - it becomes clear that the version focuses not on the Asian, but on the American and European markets. Although the 2019 model was sold mainly outside of Japan.

It is unlikely that the motorcycle will be the representative of the new generation, given that the old debuted in 2019. Therefore, the chassis and the power unit will not be changed, most likely, all the more so, the photo shows that the modernization has touched the appearance of the bike.

Yamaha Tenere 700 is the simplest motorcycle. Japanese engineers are not only not shy, but proud of it. In their opinion, a real enduro should not be structurally complex. “The simpler, the better!” - this, it seems, was the motto of the creators.



Travel enthusiasts will agree with them, because a large number of electronic options and assistants are good in the city or on the highway. Far from civilization, where such bikes are often climbed, any complication of the design is only to the detriment. A broken motorcycle cannot be repaired outside of major cities.

The update of the Yamaha Tenere 700 should boost sales of the Japanese model, because the competitors are on the alert, and the 2019 version has already become familiar.

When the mass production of the updated bike will begin, it has not yet been reported. But in Russia they will also be waiting for it - domestic endurists know and love the Tenere model very well.
