BMW is not going to stop the development of gasoline and diesel engines
The iconic automaker has said it will not be phasing out internal combustion engines, as many competitors are doing. Head of engine development Mark Weber reassured BMW connoisseurs around the world by saying that the iconic straight-sixes and V-shaped V-XNUMXs are not going anywhere anytime soon.
The company is confident that internal combustion engines have a future, and its engineers will make every effort to create new generation units. Unlike the Volkswagen and Audi concerns, the Bavarian developers will continue to invest money and time in the modernization and search for new technical solutions for traditional units.
Mark Weber emphasized that today it is impossible to abandon the classic internal combustion engines. At the same time, existing developments allow us to say that in the coming years there will be units for passenger cars, the level of carbon dioxide emissions in which will be reduced at least several times. This will allow them to be used in accordance with the most stringent environmental protection regulations.

He also shared insider information that there is already a ready-made prototype of a six-cylinder engine, the level of emissions in which is much lower than in any other existing unit. While work is underway on its final fine-tuning and tuning, but approximately during the year we can expect good news. At the same time, a search is being made for new technological solutions that will further reduce the level of air pollution, without affecting the performance and reliability of engines.

The company will not ignore the segment either. electric vehicles. The new BMW iX and BMW i4, presented last year, are just the beginning. The direction will be actively developed, since BMW management understands that ultimately the future still belongs to electric cars. If you do not invest resources in development and research now, you can irretrievably fall behind your competitors later.

There will be new plug-in hybrid options that are also promising, especially during this transitional period. But the most important thing that Mark Weber noted is that the company wants to satisfy all customers and in no case imposes total electrification. Therefore, lovers of large Bavarian motors can sleep peacefully for at least another decade.
