At the “start” flight tests of engines for the Angara

The press service of the State Corporation for Space Activities of the Russian Federation shared information about the successful completion of factory tests and preliminary preparation on the ground of engines for the light Angara. The next stage will be flight testing of power plants as part of a detachable aggregate module of a domestic launch vehicle.


This is the second stage of a two-stage Russian light-class space rocket, forming the target orbit of the launched vehicle. It is equipped with low-thrust motors produced by NIIMash, four of which demonstrate a thrust of 40 kilogram-force, and fourteen - 1,3 kgf each.


Let us remind you that earlier it became known that flight tests of the Russian Angara launch vehicles should be completed next year. Then, in 2024, the launch of their mass production is expected.
