Is Podbike Frikar a bicycle? Yes, and it will be on sale soon.

Representatives of the Norwegian company Podbike issued a press release and shared news on the electric bicycle. Its development has been ongoing for several years. Thanks to new investments of 3,2 million euros, the work will be completed in 2022, and the first customers will receive the Frikars.


The closed design provides protection from bad weather and low temperatures, allowing you to move comfortably in the rain. The cabin improves aerodynamics, if desired, it can be removed for the summer.

What is known

Despite the high price of more than 6400 euros, already 3400 people have pre-ordered and are waiting for the delivery of the e-bike. This is a single-seat modification, instead of a cargo compartment with a volume of 160 liters, it will be possible to install a child seat.

The main advantage is that Frikar is a bicycle, which means it is allowed to ride on the bike path. In cities with heavy traffic and traffic jams, such a transport you can move much faster while remaining in the cabin.



The model has pedals, but it is not a classic belt or chain drive. With their help, you can generate energy and apply it to the wheels. At the same time, the speed is limited to 25 km, which is also related to the standards introduced in Europe for equipment of this class.

But there is one trick here, since the speed limit works for one motor. The second, acting as a pedal-driven transmission, allows the Fricar to be accelerated to 60 km. That is, if you drive only on the battery, the indicator does not exceed the norm, but if you help with your feet, you can significantly accelerate.

The battery with a capacity of 877 Wh provides a range of 50 to 80 km. It is possible to install an additional battery to increase the distance of movement without recharging.



As standard, there will be an adjustable seat, the necessary lighting equipment and a rear-view mirror. For an additional fee of 650 euros, you can get a luxury model with interior upholstery and lighting, a fan, side pockets, a second mirror and an alarm system.

The exact date for the start of deliveries was not named, but it was noted that the first copies will go to Norwegian customers who are located next to the production. After that, Fricar will be sold in Germany and throughout Europe.
