Carcopter S11 Maca - a racing car without wheels became a reality

Maca unveils air racing aircraft car, running on hydrogen fuel. The concept will be used in Formula 1-type races, which are currently in development. The management of the French manufacturer Maca is confident that the work will be completed within a year and a half, and the fully finished version will appear in 2023.

At the moment, a 30% scale sample is being tested and the preliminary results are promising. All developments and solutions are showing good results, no major alterations are required.

This concept was selected from hundreds of ideas that were considered in the competition from the aviation giant Airbus. As a result, head of development Michael Krollak and former fighter pilot Thierry de Boisvilliers and a team of engineers spent three years creating a new super transport. It was a complete immersion in the racing industry, resulting in a concept that seems outlandish, but according to the creators, we have a fully working solution that meets all safety standards.

As noted by the employees of the French company, they initially found themselves in a winning position, as they developed and built a prototype taking into account the requirements of modern racing. They didn't have to spend time reworking.

Carcopter S11 runs on hydrogen fuel, which ensures zero emissions to the environment. Due to the movement by air, maneuverability and controllability will reach a new level, unattainable for classic wheeled vehicles.

The single-seat model uses three twin rotors and six hydrogen-powered electric motors, providing a total power output of 200 kW.

The maximum speed will be 250 km/h. And the built-in collision avoidance system reduces the danger to a minimum, both stationary objects and the transport of other riders are controlled.

Testing on real race tracks will begin soon. The team plans to add side sensors to increase the level of control during the race, improve feedback between the controls and expand the controlled safe zone around.

The company plans to produce several fully working models and complete testing before the end of 2022. According to the management, if no critical problems are identified and work goes according to schedule, then production can be established by 2023.
