
Peugeot 408 and Citroen C4 will no longer be sold in Russia with diesel engines
There will be no more diesel Peugeot 408 and Citroen C4 – they have disappeared from dealer price lists. Don’t expect them to return – cars not even in the Vehicle Type Approvals! It turns out that the PSA Peugeot Citroen concern has deliberately refused to supply such models to Russia!
If you look at the official sales of new cars in 2021, it becomes clear that the main reason for the departure of diesel versions of the Peugeot 408 and Citroen C4 was low demand. Despite the fact that French heavy fuel engines are considered the best in the world, they are traditionally not trusted in Russia.
If Renault has long been accustomed to and recognized this brand, then Peugeot and Citroen are bypassed, especially with diesel engines. The result is logical - only 62 Citroen C4 and 63 Peugeot 408 sold in 6 months of 2021. This refers to the heavy fuel version.

Taxi drivers and courier services, who might be interested in diesel French models, were also in no hurry to order them. It is believed that the main reason was the lack of an automatic transmission. Dealers in Russia offered only cars in conjunction with "mechanics".
But in fact, automatic transmission in Russia will not be the reason for abandoning an economical car, rather, on the contrary. It's all about the unpopularity of the brands Peugeot and Citroen. Service stations also contribute to this - in many places they simply do not want to mess with French diesel cars.
Now Peugeot 408 and Citroen C4 will be offered only with petrol engines. But demand is unlikely to grow - cars of these models have been sold in Russia since 2012-2013, and since then they have not been updated at all.
Now the cost of the Peugeot 408 starts from 1 rubles, for the Citroen C300 they ask for more - from 000 rubles. Naturally, these are the prices for gasoline versions, diesel ones are no more and will not be!

In the secondary market, these cars are also not in demand, although Peugeot is bought much better.
