How BelkommunMash trolleybuses are made - a report from production
Trolleybuses in Belarus are traditionally loved in big cities. They appeared there in the capital after the war - in 1952. Lagging behind, by the way, for 19 years from Moscow. In Russia, few people know about this, but Minsk is officially recognized as the trolleybus capital of the world. The city has the most "horned", lines and routes for them. But before, our capital was in the first place, but alas, the authorities decided to abandon trolleybuses. By the way, in Minsk they wanted to do the same, replacing them with electric buses. But local public utilities did not blindly follow the example of their Moscow colleagues, but decided to calculate everything in advance. It turned out that electric buses cost three times more, which already makes them not very profitable. Plus the retraining of drivers, the development of appropriate infrastructure and the time spent on recharging.
Belarusian trolleybuses are produced by two enterprises - MAZ and BelKommunMash. The last one was visited by reporters of the channel “this is avby”. It was always interesting how Belarusian are "horned". As it turned out, the BelkommunMash plant is a serious and modern enterprise with a long history. Now trolleybuses and electric buses are produced there, which are well received in Russia and other CIS countries. Of course, production is not complete without foreign parts. But they are trying to substitute imports. Although, China is always happy to help, especially since they have long-standing partnerships with Belarus.
