Renault Duster Oroch pickup can get turbocharged engine in 2022
Renault is going to equip Renault Duster pickups for South America with turbocharged gasoline engines. This is because one of the old naturally aspirated engines does not meet L-7 emission standards.
Didn't you know that the Renault Duster, popular in Russia, is also available as an Oroch pickup? Moreover, in South America it is offered only as such. The local population, among those who can afford the new cars, prefers this particular body type.
While Renault Duster Oroch is offered with two non-alternative petrol engines - 1,6 and 2,0 liters. Rumor has it that in 2022 the most powerful engine will be removed, replacing it with a turbocharged four with a displacement of 1,3 liters.

The same engine will be put on the new Renault Captur, only with a power of 150 hp. With. For the pickup, they chose the most forced modification - by 163 liters. With.
It was planned that the new Renault Duster Oroch will be produced on the basis of the next generation of the European Duster. But the manufacturer decided to save money, taking into account the purchasing power of the inhabitants of South America. Therefore, the car will remain in the old body, having received only Half-Life updates.
There will be few external changes - based on spy shots from secret training grounds, several details can be noted. For example, a new grille, alloy wheels and taillights.
They don’t want to completely abandon atmospheric engines - the popular 1,6 will remain available for the cheapest modification of the Renault Duster Oroch.
Many potential buyers are unhappy that the 2,0 petrol is being removed though. They do not need a turbo engine on a pickup truck - with such a small volume, it will work under increased load, which will negatively affect the resource. And anyway, Renault Duster Oroch needs traction at low revs, not speed.
The president of the Argentine division of Renault said that the Duster Oroch will be produced in the old body until the end of 2024, and the 2022 update is the last.

In Europe, you cannot buy a Duster in the back of a pickup truck. It's a pity - many Russians gladly chose such an SUV, especially since it looks more harmonious than the standard version.
By the way, there is a Romturingia company in Romania, which is engaged in converting ordinary Renault Dusters into pickups, but not with a double-row, but with a single-row cab. Such a modification cost 1 rubles, if translated into our money.
It remains only to wish that factory pickups come to Russia - there will be buyers for them there!
