Russian aircraft TVS 2 DTS - "Baikal", but not the same

The Soviet aircraft building school gave the country many passenger aircraft aircraft different classes. They were enough for international and local airlines. When the USSR collapsed, the technology did not go anywhere - it continued its hard work. But the development of new and modernized models almost stopped. We had to adapt to different realities. When we sorted out the economy, we decided to take the easiest way - to buy foreign planes. Why make your own if you can buy a ready-made one? It's good that the development of new models was resumed, even if it was slow. Unfortunately, the same Superjet-100 and MS-21 were prepared for foreign engines.

But new aircraft were developed, with one exception - there was no replacement for the legendary An-2 "Kukuruznik". Although, around 2015, the designers still realized and began to prepare such a model. This was the first generation Baikal, now known as TVS 2 DTS. The main feature of the model is a new turboprop engine instead of the old piston engine. But when creating this aircraft, they did not abandon the archaic biplane design. But it was not this that ruined the model, but a large number of foreign components. However, maybe this is for the best, because now the country is waiting for a new "Baikal" - LMS-901.
