Rivian is expanding capacity to produce the R1S electric car

The young American company Rivian announced the opening of a second plant for the production of an electric SUV R1S. In December, the company shipped 386 R1T pickups, which had been put on the assembly line earlier, to customers. Today, Rivian has an order book for 71 of these machines. The R1T Adventure Package electric pickup costs $60 as a minimum. At the same time, 20% of customers agree to pay another 10 thousand "green" for the installation of a more powerful battery in the 180 kWh Max Pack. And what is the R1S SUV?

This is an electric crossover designed for seven seats and developed on the same platform as the pickup truck. The main parameters of the electric car:

The machine comes with a special wall-mounted device that allows you to restore battery performance from a household network in 12,5 hours. The estimated cost of the basic version of the Explore electric car in the US domestic market is $65 (4,4 million rubles).

Exterior and interior

Outside car looks somewhat angular, which emphasizes its brutality. There are no special design features, attention is drawn to the head optics (sometimes called "stadium"), which distinguishes the car from the general flow. The crossover is designed for 7 people, the rear seats can be completely folded, which turns the car into a mini-truck. The special features include an additional trunk under the hood with a capacity of 330 l (the rear compartment is 180 l). The car tows a trailer with a load capacity of up to 3,5 tons.



The saloon is trimmed with a fabric of special strength and decorative elements made of precious wood. In front of the driver is a pair of displays: a dashboard and a multimedia screen. The software is Rivian's proprietary software, regularly updated over the air.



The electric car is sold in Russia (mainly to order) at a price of 7,37 to 10,125 million rubles, depending on the battery capacity and configuration.
