Motor in 90 "cubes" from the scooter - in the "Zhiguli"!

What do stubborn fanatical amateur designers not try to squeeze into car instead of the standard engine to increase the power: up to an airplane engine! And what if you go the other way and put a small unit, for example, from a moped, under the hood. Will it pull the car and, most importantly, how?

No sooner said than done! In the VAZ, they decided to put a motor from a Japanese scooter with a volume of 90 “cubes”. The engine was connected to the wheels not through a box, but through a variator, directly to the gearbox. Will it be possible to assemble something capable of driving from two pieces of equipment “sentenced” to scrap? To begin with, the driveshaft was shortened, and the motor was placed in the trunk, closer to the rear axle. And now everything is assembled, the engine is running. And immediately - a nice plus: the "grunt" of the motor is almost inaudible. The pedals, however, do not work: they are not needed, but instead of the gearshift handle there is a variator control lever, which either stronger or weaker presses the belt against the pulley.

It's time to experience! We move off: surprisingly, the car drove off, we gradually pick up speed and the equipment confidently climbs uphill. Although it smokes mercilessly: it turns out a full-fledged "veil". But most importantly, it's moving! And now the first race has been successfully completed: it's time to take stock and experiment some more. What did they do with the "hybrid" after the tests? Watch the video!
