Cargo quadcopter T-650 - a dangerous competitor of delivery services

The recent presentation of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) T-650 caused a resonance in professional circles. A feature of the model has become a large carrying capacity - it can move about 300 kg. A promising concept was presented by BAE Systems together with Malloy Aeronautics, but the developers stopped sharing news and removed most of the information from the public domain.

Everything was explained simply: the project interested the military, so now this direction is being developed as a priority.

Features

To begin with, it is worth disassembling the characteristics, especially since they are impressive:

  • ✅ Permissible weight of transported goods 300 kg
  • ✅ Power reserve without load - 80 km
  • ✅ Distance on one charge at full load - 30 km
  • ✅ Speed — up to 140 km/h

The model can work autonomously, there is also a remote control mode if necessary.

The body is made of ultra-strong carbon fiber and has a streamlined shape for improved aerodynamics. The large rotors are located away from the hull to facilitate loading and transport.

The configuration of the equipment can be quickly changed depending on the nature of the work performed and its specifics. It was possible to find out for what tasks the military plans to use this equipment:

  • ✅ Automated logistics of local bases and swimming facilities, delivery of ammunition and weapons
  • ✅ Evacuation of the wounded, emergency transportation of patients to the hospital
  • ✅ Search and rescue
  • ✅ Destruction of sea mines using a special neutralizer
  • ✅ Fight against enemy submarines
  • ✅ Intelligence operations and situation monitoring

But much more interesting is the use of the T-650 in the civilian industry. Modern navigation capabilities allow you to quickly deliver goods within a few tens of kilometers. The quadcopter is not afraid of traffic jams, it can land on small areas and works quietly. This is a potential version of the ideal courier who is late only because of technical problems.

It remains to be hoped that the development will be used not only by the military. Most likely, at the moment the quadcopter is being tested. According to company representatives, if the check is successful, the civilian direction will also be actively developed.
