Van Veen OCR 1000 - serial rotary motorcycle from the 70s

Old motorcycles – this is nostalgia, but not about speed and dynamics. However, it didn’t seem that way before. Izh Planeta Sport was just a hellish machine. It accelerated madly and “torn” all Soviet motorcycles, including “Javas” and “Czezetas” from Czechoslovakia. But the maximum speed of the “Dog” is only 140 km/h, and even then, in the version with a Japanese carburetor. And it accelerated to 100 km/h in 11 seconds. Now, simple road models develop this speed twice as fast.

Now imagine the sensation the Van Veen OCR 1000 motorcycle made in 1974. It had over 100 hp. With. This is 20% more than the previous leader among serial bikes - Kawasaki Z1. It was possible to achieve impressive parameters through the use of a rotary engine. The Van Veen OCR 1000 was a boxed product aimed at eccentric millionaires. The motorcycle cost 40 euros, if we translate into today's rate, taking into account inflation. This is 3,65 million rubles. The motorcycle was not in great demand - in four years it was possible to assemble and sell 38 bikes. Then production was stopped. But it was bought out by a Dutch rich man. Interestingly, in 2009, Van Veen OCR 1000 motorcycles began to be produced again, and in the same form as before. Now they asked for 85 thousand euros, that is, about 7,7 million rubles.
