It seems that during the existence of the Soviet Union, premium cars were produced only there. Talk about the countries of the socialist bloc, of course. GAZ and ZIL are recognized masters of luxury models. "Seagulls", for example, were often sold or donated to the governments of friendly states. They didn't do anything like that there. But Czechoslovakia had its own brand - this is TATRA. In addition to trucks, they also made cars. And not just original, but quite specific. Sometimes they struck with beauty, and it happened that with the absurdity of their appearance.
Take, for example, TATRA-700. This car appeared after the collapse of the USSR - in 1996. Apparently, the manufacturer decided to emphasize that he can create strange and provocative masterpieces. Yes, the car turned out, but it is all woven from contradictions. For example, the rear-engine layout is like that of the Zaporozhets. The engine here had air cooling - no radiators and technical innovations. It is not entirely clear why, but engineers from Czechoslovakia have long clung to outdated traditions. Although, judging by the reviews of the TATRA-700 owners, it was not possible to overheat the car engine in the summer even in traffic jams. Apparently, the designers made the cooling system ideal. And the engine was V8 here - like in the best American houses. The car is interesting, and the author of the channel "Ivan Zenkevich PRO cars" will tell about it.
