As soon as they did not try to modernize the UAZ-469, which was produced for more than half a century! Well, he did not give rest to the designers of the Ulyanovsk plant "Hammer": I wanted to create something similar, or even better. However, not all attempts are known to the general public, and one of them is described in a video on the HiTachka channel.
From the standard "UAZ" it was decided to make a "royal" version: large in size and not inferior to the basic version in terms of cross-country ability. This model was supposed to “plug in the belt” of the vaunted Hummer, but something went wrong ... The “fancy” UAZ appeared in 2010: it did not have rear doors, but ten people or 1300 kg of cargo fit freely inside! And this is already a lot. The new car received its index - UAZ-296601-20.
This car, which today occupies a place of honor in the Ulyanovsk Museum, resembles its standard serial "brother", but there are many differences: at least the body, the metal part of which is covered with plastic. And under the hood, made of the same material, is an Iveco diesel engine with a volume of 2,3 liters, which developed 116 “horses”.
