The purpose of the test is also interesting: fragments should not damage the turbine housing and the aircraft fuselage, wings, so that the liner on one engine can land safely. And the turbine is also tested ... with water, directing a strong jet at it. Why is it necessary? The plane is being prepared for sailing? Not at all: you need to make sure that the liner successfully passes the storm front with its merciless downpours. And the engines are also tested for strength, tritely throwing all sorts of hard objects at them. The blades should grind everything extraneous.
