The shortage of new cars in the Russian Federation may end at the beginning of 2022

Lack of new cars in Russian car dealerships will gradually decline already in early 2022, at least this will affect the main and most popular models on the local market. This is reported by TASS, citing a statement from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The news for Russian motorists - current and potential - is definitely good, but you should not relax. It is known that the cost of new machines is directly dependent on the price of rolled metal, which, as you know, is gradually becoming more expensive. Another factor that affects the price tag of a car is the cost of logistics, which is also far from being so good.

Logistics operations are rapidly becoming more expensive, including due to the coronavirus pandemic. The number of orders has risen, the movement of goods has followed it, and as a result, the cost of transportation has risen. Since new cars have to be delivered to the showrooms of official dealers, the increase in the cost of logistics also affects the cost of cars.

According to representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, only those manufacturers that manufacture cars in Russia can sell cars at prices close to market prices, and thereby increase their market share. Everything is logical here - the further you take finished cars to the point of sale, the greater the impact logistics has on the final price tag.

As an example of the above statement, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation cite the products of the domestic manufacturer AvtoVAZ, in the cost of which logistics takes a minimal percentage. The opposite situation is observed at the Kaliningrad enterprise Avtotor, which is forced to deliver products to various parts of the country from its most extreme point.

Now, while December is coming, the price of logistics services is evenly distributed by sales volume. However, in January, as the number of sales begins to gradually equalize with the level of demand, the buyer will start to bargain more confidently, and the cost of logistics will become a serious advantage for automakers from a deterrent factor.

Earlier, representatives of RoAD - the association "Russian Automobile Dealers" provided their forecast regarding the shortage of new cars. They are confident that the shortage of cars will continue in the first quarter of 2022 and continue into the second. This opinion is due to the fact that there has not been a similar current shortage of cars in the Russian Federation for many years.
