
NIO ET5 goes live to come face to face with Tesla Model 3
Chinese startup NIO has released five electric models in five years of operation cars, which can be called an impressive result. The ET5 model deserves special attention, because it is positioned as a "killer" of the popular Tesla Model 3. In total, the company's model range includes three crossovers, a long sedan and a hypercar equipped with an EP9 electric motor.

As for other electric cars from the Chinese manufacturer, these are the EC6 coupe-crossover, the ES6 mid-size SUV, the ES8 full-size crossover and the ET7 flagship sedan. Each of them will appear on the exhibition halls soon, by the beginning of 2022. However, the startup does not plan to stop there and presents the sixth concept, called ET5.
Visually, the novelty is similar to the exterior of its "big brother" in the face of the ET7 sedan. The bodywork is designed with aerodynamics and maximum efficiency in mind, just like the more expensive and larger version. What differs is the headlights and the shape of the front bumper. Fog lamp housings have become longer, small air intakes for the cooling system have appeared at the corners of the housing. The Tesla competitor has a more rounded tail and is somewhat shorter than its ET7 counterpart.
The dimensions of the ET5 are: length 4790 mm, width 1960 mm, height 1499 mm, wheelbase 2888 mm. With these characteristics, the novelty takes a confident position among compact yet executive sedans, approaching the largest models in the class.
The interior looks traditional for electric cars. A minimum of buttons and other controls. Instead, a large display for the infotainment system is located in the center of the front panel. Immediately striking is its shape, close to a square, rather than a rectangle, like Tesla. A 10,5-inch digital instrument cluster screen is placed in front of the driver's face. Implemented interior lighting with support for 256 color modes. Atmospheric and deep sound in the cabin is provided by the Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 audio system.

The transmission in the NIO ET5 is represented by two motors. For their operation, a battery is used, one of three with different capacities: 75 kWh, 100 kWh and 150 kWh. The total power of the electric motors is 483 hp. With. at a torque of 700 N * m. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 4,3 seconds.
The company says it will begin shipping ET5s to customers by September 2022. ET5 costs $51 at current exchange rates, excluding government subsidies.
