Tiny electrical cabinet and other Toyota concepts announced

This week, Japanese company Toyota, together with Lexus, announced plans to produce fully electric cars, which will go on sale after 2030. We are not talking about one model, but about 15 modifications at once, including two-door sports coupes and pickups. Particular attention was given to the Micro Box - an extremely compact EV, created for comfortable movement on narrow city streets.

The mini-electric vehicle looks well adapted to the conditions of urban operation, which is characterized by low speed and limited maneuvering capabilities. The tiny "electrical cabinet," as it's jokingly called, showed off more than just a potential exterior. A QR code flaunts on the base of the windshield. Particularly curious people enlarged the photo and scanned the encrypted message.

As it turned out, the QR code contains a link to a video filmed for the famous Rick Astley song called “Never Gonna Give You Up”, which means “Never Give Up” in Russian. The track and video have long since become a cult internet meme, with the clip surpassing 1 billion views this year.

Of course, Toyota has no plans to release Micro Box electric cars with the original QR code. Instead, it will be possible to put a cipher on the disc, which refers, for example, to a car sharing service. Yes, this is one of the applications of the future compact car, given how economical and suitable it will be for measured city traffic.

Unfortunately, at the moment, no specific details are known about the Micro Box or the other 14 concepts from Toyota's collaboration with Lexus. It is unlikely that they will be discussed next year either, as the companies' plans go much further. For example, the Japanese company has set a goal of releasing 30 electric models by 2030. Lexus is not lagging behind in its ambitions and plans to completely convert the vehicle fleet available in China, the US and Europe to electric traction by the same year, and intends to become a global brand by 2035. electric vehicles.

Toyota is investing $70 billion in fleet electrification with the goal of both brands achieving $3,5 million in annual EV sales. These are very ambitious goals and we will be watching as the company prepares for the launch of the bZ4X. You also need to be prepared for the fact that many of the products presented this week may change before they go into production, if they even appear at all.
