Yamaha prepares YZF-R9 motorcycle

The Japanese company Yamaha, one of the leaders in the production motorcycle, is going to release a new model – YZF-R9. Perhaps the bike will replace or complement the famous R6, which they do not want to update.


The Japanese manufacturer has not yet made an official statement about the appearance of a new model, but the name has already been registered for Yamaha in the patent office.

Talk about the R6 being “retired” has been going on for a long time, as well as the fact that it will be replaced on the assembly line by the YZF-R9. But only now information has been received, according to which the motorcycle will appear soon.



The first news that the rumors were true came during the registration of a series of models in the Japanese Intellectual Property Office. Yamaha then applied for twelve titles in the YZF series. Two of them are small cubic meters of the YZF-R15/20/25 type.

Now only 5 models are produced, it turns out that the Japanese manufacturer is considering the release of a number of new bikes.
Yamaha R7 is already preparing to launch in the series, but it will not replace the R6. But the R9 can do it.

The fact is that the Yamaha R6 is no longer available for public roads. The Japanese did not modify it to meet the Euro-5 environmental standard, so only the track modification of the legendary bike remained.

The resulting gap needs to be filled with something, otherwise competitors will do it.

The other day, rumors turned into reality - the Japanese publication Young Machine of Japan reported on the work on a new motorcycle. This media values ​​its reputation, so all their predictions are confirmed. If they write about something like that, then they received reliable information.

Yamaha Motor Company is silent so far, its representatives do not give any comments, the technical characteristics of the model are not disclosed.



But the ubiquitous media is suggesting that the bike will get an engine similar to what is currently being put on the MT-09. This is a three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 847 cm3, developing 120 hp. With. It is possible that the engine is boosted by increasing power.

The new motorcycle must meet all modern standards, the model will be supplemented with electronic driving assistance systems.
Judging by the surge in media interest in the Yamaha YZF-R9, the debut should take place in the first months of 2022. The company usually quickly masters the production of new models, and will not spend money on registration of names just like that. It remains only to wait for the Yamaha YZF-R9!
